S70 C.O.D. Collect-On-Delivery Service
(Applicable only between points within the U.S.)
- The shipper must enter the C.O.D. amount on the air waybill. United shall not be liable for failure to collect the C.O.D. amount when it is not entered by the shipper on the air waybill. Each piece of a C.O.D. shipment must be marked with the letters "C.O.D." and the total C.O.D. amount to be collected.
- The following will not be accepted C.O.D.:
- Shipment requiring prepayment of transportation charges.
- Charges Collect Shipments requiring shipper's written guarantee for payment of collect charges as specified in Rule G58.
EXCEPTION: Live animal shipments will be accepted with a C.O.D. amount and transportation charges to be collected from the consignee.
- When the C.O.D. amount exceeds $25,000.00 per shipment.
- Small Package (SPD) Shipments.
- Shipments containing both C.O.D. and non C.O.D. parts.
- No part of a C.O.D. shipment will be delivered or made available for consignee inspection or trial, unless the full C.O.D. amount has been paid.
- Form Of Payment
- Credit will not be extended on the C.O.D. amount.
- The C.O.D. amount must be paid in cash, traveler's check, U.S. postal money order, cashier's check, or by check made payable to the Shipper. If the Shipper requires a specific type of check as payment for the C.O.D. amount from the Consignee, the Shipper must specifically indicate so in writing on the air waybill.
- Under no circumstances will United accept a personal or company check made payable to United for the C.O.D. amount.
- United's sole responsibility shall be to secure the C.O.D. amount and to exercise due diligence in forwarding the C.O.D. amount to the Shipper. United will, under no circumstances, be responsible if a check proves to be counterfeit, forged or is for any reason dishonored.
- The C.O.D. service charge may not be included in the Consignee's C.O.D. check. The C.O.D. service charge must be paid by the Consignee on a Charges Collect Shipment, and by the Shipper on a Charges Prepaid Shipment, unless the Shipper indicated on the air waybill that the C.O.D. service charge is to be collected from the Consignee.
- A service charge of $4.00 for each $100.00 (or fraction thereof) of the C.O.D. amount will be assessed, subject to a minimum charge of $30.00 per C.O.D.
S74 Import/Transit/Export Regulations Terminal Service Charges USA
(Except as otherwise indicated, applicable only at points in the United States for international carriage.) Terminal service charges as described below will be assessed to the shipper or consignee named in the air waybill, and will apply whenever such services are performed by United.
- IMPORT
- Carrier Import Service Charge//Terminal Service Fee
- United will charge USD $25.00 per Carrier's air waybill, for providing assistance and/or facilities in presenting a consignment to Customs for examination, and/or opening or closing packages, if required. In the event Carrier's air waybill includes more than one freight forwarder's air waybill such charge will be assessed upon each freight forwarder's air waybill.
EXCEPTION: Entire consolidated consignments, which are removed from United's bond for Customs processing at alternate locations will be assessed a single USD $50.00 charge.
- A charge of USD $75.00 per shipment will be assessed for post entry, i.e. where U.S. Customs requires formal inspection and clearance of any unaccompanied baggage shipped as cargo beyond a point where passenger baggage is normally cleared by Customs. Air freight charges will not be applicable from post of entry to the final United destination.
- Service Charge for Change of Destination
(Applicable on International Inbound Shipments)
When requested in writing by the shipper/agent or consignee/agent to terminate a shipment in route at a destination other than listed on the air waybill, a charge of USD $100.00 will be assessed in additional to all other applicable charges.
- Preparation of Carrier's Certificate and Release Order (U.S. Customs Form C-7529)
When requested by the shipper or consignee to prepare more than one copy of Carrier's Certificate and Release Order (U.S. Customs Form C-7529) or any other documents necessary to permit customs clearance of a shipment, a charge of USD $10.00 will be made for each additional copy prepared, except as noted below:
EXCEPTION: No charge will be made if such documents are prepared by the broker or consignee and only Carrier's signature is required.
- Preparation Of Transit Air Cargo Manifest or An Immediate Transportation Entry Form
When requested by the consignee or his agent to prepare more than one Immediate Transportation Entry Form (U.S. Customs Form 7512) or a Transit Air Cargo Manifest, United will charge USD $10.00 for each such form in excess of one.
- Partial Delivery of a Single Consignment Covered by One U.S. Customs Entry
- Delivery of piece(s) selected by the consignee or his Agent.
When Carrier is requested by consignee or his agent to provide partial delivery of a consignment which is ready for delivery, a charge of USD $14.00 per partial delivery will be assessed.
- Delivery of non selected piece(s).
When Carrier is requested by consignee or his agent to provide partial delivery of a consignment which is ready for delivery, a charge of USD $10.00 per partial delivery will be assessed.
NOTE: For the purpose of this rule, part of a consignment shall consist of one package, piece or bundle, or two or more packages, pieces or bundles cleared through Customs on one Customs Entry.
- Delivery of Documents
When requested by the shipper or consignee, to deliver documents pertaining to a shipment(s) to a person(s) other than the consignee named on the air waybill or his customs broker, Carrier will assess a charge of USD $25.00 for such delivery, except as noted below:
EXCEPTION: The above charge will not apply when delivery is made on the premises of the Carrier or when delivery is made by mail.
- Release of Parts of Multipiece Shipments covered by One U.S. Customs Entry
When requested by the shipper consignee, to release any part of a multipiece shipment, United will release such part subject to a charge of USD $10.00 per part of such service.
- Release of Parts of Multipiece Consignments covered by More Than One U.S. Customs Entry
When requested by the shipper or his agent, consignee or his agent, to release any part of a multipiece consignment, Carrier will release such part subject to a charge of USD $10.00 per part for such service.
- Repacking Charge
A repacking charge of USD $30.00 will be assessed when a shipment containing personal effects is opened for inspection by government authorities for agricultural or Customs reasons, provided that such inspection is required at a point other than the shipment's final destination.
- Storage Charges
United will assess the following storage charges per day when the consignee or his agent fails to remove the shipment from Carrier's premises within a 48 hour time period following the day of notification of arrival of the shipment:

NOTE: Computation of the free 48 hour period begins at 08:00 a.m. on the day following the day of notification of arrival to the consignee or his agent. The first Saturday/Sunday and any legal holiday falling within such 48 hour free storage period shall be excluded from the computation of the free period. Storage charges are calculated based on the chargeable weight of the Air waybill.
- Service Charge for Clearance of a Shipment or parts Thereof at Points Other Than Carrier's Premises.
When United provides an employee to assist in Customs release of a shipment or parts thereof at points other than at the Carrier's premises a charge of USD $50.00 will be assessed.
- Service Charge for Clearance of a Shipment at Other Than the Normal Duty Hours of U.S. Customs.
United will assess a service charge of USD $35.00 for clearance of a shipment at other than normal U.S. Customs duty hours of Monday through Friday 0800 to 1700 hours.
- Service Charge for Presenting Shipments to the U.S. Department of Agriculture
When requested by the shipper, consignee and/or U.S. Department of Agriculture, to present a shipment(s) to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, a charge of USD $2.00 per piece will be assessed, subject to a minimum charge of USD $50.00 per shipment.
- Shipments consigned to a Bank
When United is instructed to obtain a written bank release from the Bank named as consignee on the air waybill prior to release of a shipment, a service charge of USD $20.00 will be assessed.
- EXPORT
- Charges for Preparation of U.S. Shipper's Export Declaration (U.S. Department of Commerce Form 7525-V or 7525-V Alternate)
A charge of USD $50.00 will be assessed for the preparation of completion of each U.S. Shipper's Declaration. No charge will be assessed for correction and alternation of mechanical errors; however, United; if necessary, will enter the "District" and "Port" information and complete the following items at no charge to the shipper:

- Service Charge for Copy of Cargo Manifest
Upon request, United will provide a copy of a specified Cargo Manifest. A service charge of USD $35.00 will be assessed for each copy requested.
- Opening and/or Closing of Consignments
When opening and/or closing service of consignments or pieces thereof for Customs examination is not provided by customs, the shipper or his agent, a charge of USD $3.00 per piece opened and/or closed, subject to a minimum charge of USD $10.00 per consignment exported, will be assessed.
- Repacking Charge
A repackaging charge of USD $30.00 per Air waybill will be assessed when a shipment containing personal effects is opened for inspection by government authorities for agricultural or Customs reasons, provided that such inspection is required at a point other than the shipment's final destination.
- Storage Charges
United will charge for storage of shipments when Carrier is requested by the shipper to withhold a shipment or piece thereof from transportation beyond midnight of the day following the day of receipt of shipment. The storage charge will also be assessed when storage is required because the first piece of the shipment is not accompanied by the proper documentation necessary for international carriage, or when all the pieces of a shipment described on the air waybill are not received within 24 hours after receipt of the first piece of the shipment. United will charge USD $6.00 per 45 kgs. (100 lbs.) (except JFK/EWR USD $10.00) or fraction thereof per calendar day subject to a minimum charge of USD $25.00 per shipment.
S76 Documentation Charges
- Issuance or Completion of air waybill
If United is requested by the shipper or its agent to issue or to complete an existing air waybill, including itemization of costs, a service charge of USD $20.00 will be assessed. This charge does not apply to SPD shipments.
- Amending/Changing of air waybill
A service charge of USD $20.00 will be assessed for any change of name of the consignee or other statement on the air waybill made necessary by the shipper's instructions received after dispatch of shipment from the airport of departure as shown on the air waybill.
EXCEPTION: When the shipper changes the destination of a shipment and additional transportation is required, he shall be liable for the transportation charges as originally routed plus the applicable transportation charges between the original airport of destination and the amended airport of destination.
S78 Storage
(Applicable to U.S. Domestic transportation only)
- United will hold a shipment without charge for a 48-hour period beginning at 8:00 a.m. on the day following the day of notification of arrival to the consignee or his agent. The first Saturday/Sunday and any legal holiday falling within such 48 hours free storage period shall be excluded from the computation of the free period. Free storage will not be provided to Shipments containing articles of Extraordinary Value with an actual or declared value exceeding USD $5,000.00
- Charges:
$6.00 per day/per 100 lbs (or fraction of 100 pounds), subject to a minimum charge of $25.00 per shipment. Storage charges are calculated based on the chargeable weight of the air waybill.
EXCEPTION: The daily charge per 100 lbs. Or fraction thereof at JFK/EWR is USD $10.00.
S80 Escort Service
When escort service is requested by the shipper and/or consignee, or if escorts are deemed necessary by UA due to the nature of the transported commodity, UA will escort the shipper and/or consignee and the shipment between the United's cargo facility and its aircraft. A service charge of USD 100.00 will be assessed for each shipment requiring escort service.
EXCEPTION: U.S. Military Human Remains are exempt from the above service charge
S82 Proof of Delivery Request
Upon request, United will provide the Shipper with a copy of the air waybill signed by the Consignee.
S86 Shipper's Insurance
- At the shipper's request, United will provide the following cargo insurance for all commodities except those listed below.
Exceptions: Shippers insurance will not be available for:
- Shipments of Articles of Extraordinary Value (as defined in Rule G20)
- Live Animals
- Human Remains
- Perishables
- Those commodities likely to deteriorate or perish due to climate, temperature, or exposure, regardless of shipper's release of liability. (See rule G36(B))
Rates: $.75 USD for each $100.00 USD (or fraction thereof of the insurance amount). Subject to a minimum charge of $5.00 USD.
SPD shipments are limited to $1,250.00 insurance coverage.
S88 Copy of Air Waybill Request
Upon request, United will provide the Shipper or Consignee with a copy of the air waybill, at a charge of USD $20.00 (CAD $30.00).
